Author Guidelines

Dear authors!

The southern Russian journal of therapeutic practice strives to provide the highest quality of published scientific materials. The editorial Board follows the principles of editorial ethics set out in Chapter 70 "Copyright" of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, in the recommendations of the International Committee of medical journal editors (ICMJE) and the international Committee on publication Ethics (COPE).

1. General information.

The following categories of articles are accepted for publication in the southern Russian journal of therapeutic practice:

• Fundamental study.

Scientific articles in the field of basic research are defined as articles that describe research performed on experimental animals or cells/tissues under in vitro conditions. Articles in this category should not exceed 25,000 characters without spaces.

• Clinical study.

Articles devoted to clinical research should not exceed 25,000 characters without spaces.

• Reviews.

Summaries of review articles should contain information about the methods of searching for literature in the databases Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed/MedLine, the CochraneLibrary, eLIBRARY, and others. The keywords of review articles should include the word "review". In the review, you must specify all the sources of primary information used. The bibliography should contain, in addition to basic works, publications for the last 5-7 years, articles from journals, and links to highly cited sources.

Systematic reviews are performed based on a detailed plan. The research methodology specifies database names, filters, and keywords, as well as all additional conditions for including/excluding primary sources. This allows you to make the most complete search and evaluation of all available research in this field of medicine and make the most objective conclusions.

Thematic reviews are mainly descriptive and do not include a systematic search for literature. Therefore, they often include only certain studies in the relevant field, selected according to their availability and/or the preferences of the reviewer. As a result, there may be errors related to the choice of scientific papers on the basis of which conclusions are made.

Articles in this category must not exceed 30,000 characters without spaces.

• Clinical case.

When describing a clinical case, it is mandatory to provide the results of laboratory and instrumental research methods, the text may be accompanied by illustrations. The descriptive part of the manuscript should not exceed 20,000 characters without spaces.

2. How to submit a manuscript.

The southern Russian journal of therapeutic practice uses the system of submitting and reviewing articles only through the electronic editorial office. This system facilitates the submission of manuscripts from authors and simplifies the review and publication process.

Note: Before the launch of the website the acceptance of articles by e-mail therapeuticjour@gmail.com

3. The procedure for the selection of manuscripts for publication.

All manuscripts that meet the requirements for submission to the southern Russian journal of therapeutic practice will first be reviewed by the editors. Manuscripts will be returned to the authors if they are not suitable for publication in the journal or do not meet the requirements. All manuscripts considered suitable for further review by the editors will be reviewed by independent reviewers.

4. The review procedure.

The journal uses a double-blind review system: neither the reviewer nor the authors know each other's last names. An article (without the names of institutions and authors) that has a registration number, full title, summary, keywords, and full text, including figures, tables, and bibliography, is sent to an independent reviewer. The review is anonymous for the author. The author's responses and the corrected version of the article are sent back to the reviewer. In addition, the reviewer, if necessary, can additionally send the article for statistical verification. All reviewers are recognized experts on the subject of peer-reviewed materials and have published on the subject of the reviewed article within the last 3 years. Reviews are stored in the publishing house and in the editorial office for 5 years.

5. Authorship.

All persons listed as authors must have copyright and must participate sufficiently in the work to accept responsibility for the relevant parts of the work or for the entire work.

In accordance with THE ICMJE recommendations, 4 criteria for determining authorship are identified:

  • Significant contribution to the concept and design of the study or to the acquisition and analysis of data or their interpretation;
  • Writing an article or substantially reworking its important scientific and intellectual content;
  • Final approval of the version for publication;
  • Agreeing to be responsible for all aspects of the work and to ensure that issues related to the accuracy and integrity of all parts of the work are properly addressed and resolved.

Only the participant who meets all four criteria should be recognized as the author. If a person does not meet all the criteria, you should mention their name in the "Acknowledgements" section or indicate a specific contribution made by this person next to the name.

If authors request removal or addition of an author after the submission or publication, journal editors should seek an explanation and signed statement of consent to the requested change from all listed authors and from the author to be removed or added.

6. Ethical aspects of publications

The journal follows the recommendations of the International Committee of medical journal editors (ICMJE). when submitting a manuscript, information should be provided about potential conflicts of interest for each author. Such conflicts may include, but are not limited to, obtaining a share, or full grant, or consultant's fee from the company whose product appears in the submitted manuscript, or which produces competing products. This information must be provided in the cover letter. Materials without accompanying information about conflicts of interest will not be sent for expert evaluation. The presence or absence of a conflict of interest should also be reflected in the manuscript after the "thank You" section and contain a summary of the conflicts of interest included in the cover letter. If there is no conflict of interest, authors should indicate "Conflict of interest: not stated".

Important! Disclosure by the author of a clear or potential conflict of interest (including financial interest), as well as funding of scientific work and / or writing an article by any organization is not only NOT a reason for refusal to publish, but also gives the authors additional advantages in the review process and indicates a responsible approach of the authors to the research and publication of the results.

7. Research involving patients.

Authors must state that their research complies with the provisions of the Helsinki Declaration, that the local ethics Committee approved the research Protocol, and that the subjects '(or their guardians') informed consent was obtained.

8. The experiments on animals.

The authors should state that their study was conducted in accordance with the basic rules set forth in fundamental documents governing the conduct of experiments on laboratory animals and the conditions of their detention (Declaration of Helsinki, 2000, Rules for the conduct of quality clinical trials in the Russian Federation (approved MZ the Russian Federation 29.12.98). OST 42-511-99, the Order of MH of the USSR No. 755 from 12.08.77 "On measures for further improvement of forms of work using "experimental animals").

9. Information about permissions.

If you provide illustrations and tables borrowed from other sources without modification or adaptation, you must provide a copy of the written permission of the copyright holder. If it is necessary to reproduce text material (250-300 words) from published sources, written permission from the publisher and author is required. For shorter quotations and adapted illustrations, it is sufficient to add a bibliographic reference. For illustrations and tables, specify "Adapted from". Letters with permission to reproduce text or illustrations must accompany the manuscript. If you couldn't get permission, please let us know.

Introduction.

The text of the introduction should contain a brief description of the problem to which the study is devoted and justification for the relevance of the work.

Materials and methods.

The section should contain the following information: where and when the study was conducted, characteristics of patients, description of the study (cohort, prospective, randomized, retrospective, etc.). the Main task of the section "Materials and methods" is to present the design and methods of the study as clearly as possible. Research methods and procedures, as well as equipment (with the manufacturer's name in parentheses) are described in as much detail as necessary so that other researchers can reproduce the results. When describing the research methodology, the following must be specified: inclusion/exclusion criteria, ethical aspects of the study, description of the randomization method, primary and secondary endpoints of the study, and description of statistical analysis methods. Authors are recommended to use the appropriate recommendations on the reporting structure, depending on the type of research provided by EQUATOR NETWORK. This will ensure that you provide enough information for editors, reviewers, and readers to evaluate how the research was performed and the validity of your conclusions. Recommendations and checklists for various types of research can be found in the section "to help the author", as well as on the website "EQUATOR NETWORK".

Medicines should only be mentioned in international non-generic names. The exception is the original articles, in which it is allowed to specify once only in the section "Materials and methods" in parentheses after the international non-generic name of its trade name registered in Russia (in accordance with the information search system "Klifar-Gosreestr" [State register of medicines]) or the manufacturer.

At the end of this section, the methods of statistical analysis are described in detail, with mandatory indication of the elements of statistical analysis, statistical package, and version.

Ethical aspects of publications.

The section "Materials and methods" should include a statement indicating that the study was approved by the responsible ethics Committee (institution or national) or exempt from the need for this assessment. In the absence of an official ethics Committee, this statement indicates that the study was conducted in accordance with the principles of the Helsinki Declaration.

Results.

They should be presented in a logical sequence and reflect the data of the research described above without references to literary sources. The results are presented clearly, in the form of short descriptions with instructions to tables and figures. Check that the data and captions of figures and tables match the text of the article.

Discussion.

Start by listing the main results and give them a convincing explanation, including the advantages of the study and its limitations. Describe how your work contributes to your existing knowledge in this area. Briefly make a conclusion about whether the results you received correspond to the results of similar studies. Analyze the limitations of the study and indicate how the limitations of this study can be overcome. Avoid repeating the information in the Introduction section and listing the data in detail in the Results section.

Conclusion.

Gratitude.

Significant contributions made by individuals should be noted in the "thank You" section before making a conflict of interest statement.

Conflict of interest.

When submitting an article for publication, all authors must make an official statement indicating any possible conflict of interest, including those related to the funding of the work, at any stage.

Figures and tables.

Figures and tables are placed in the text of the article after the paragraph with the initial mention. The titles of figures and tables must be duplicated in English.

The editorial Board has the right to change the design of graphs, figures and tables to bring them in line with the standard of the journal, as well as the right to make literary edits without changing the meaning of the information provided. The table should contain the compressed necessary data. Each table is numbered and must have a name. Tables are numbered in Arabic numerals in the order they appear in the text. If there is only one table in the text, it is not numbered. References to tables are made as follows: "Table1 indicates that ..." or " Indicates that ... (table 1)". The data presented in the table must strictly correspond to the data provided in the text. The provision of tables in the form of images is not allowed. Figures are numbered, must have a name, and must not repeat the materials presented in the tables.

List of references.

At the end of the article there is a list of literature and References (translation of Russian-language sources into English).

References are numbered in the text of the article in order of mention. The list of references must be checked. In order to reduce the time of editorial processing (the article will be sent to the author for revision if there is an unidentifiable link to the source), it is recommended to follow the following rules when compiling the list of references:

  • whenever possible, use the link format that is given by the publication (mark "for citation");
  • the list of references is formed in the order of citation;
  • be sure to specify the DOI (Digital Object Identifier), If it is not assigned-ISBN / PMID (PMCID) / eLIBRARY ID of the cited source. If you need to refer to some fundamental scientific work that does not have generally accepted identifying indexes, you should make a comment in the cover letter with the justification for its inclusion in the citation list.

It is enough to give the names of six authors, then for domestic sources it is necessary to specify "et al.", and for foreign sources - "et al.". the Output data of articles from journals is described as follows: surname, initials, article title, source name, year, volume, number, pages (from and to). 3. Use the most current and up-to-date data.

11. The order of publication of articles / Interaction between the editorial Board and authors

The editorial Board of the journal keeps correspondence with the responsible (contact) author, but if the team of authors wishes, letters can be sent to all authors.

All articles submitted to the journal are pre-checked by the Executive Secretary of the journal for plagiarism and compliance with formal requirements. At this stage, the article can be returned to the author (s) for revision with a request to fix errors or add missing data. Also, at this stage, the article may be rejected by the editor-in-chief or scientific editor and Executive Secretary due to non-compliance with the goals of the journal, lack of originality, low scientific value and a high percentage of borrowings.

After a preliminary check, the editor - in-chief makes a decision on choosing a reviewer to conduct an expert review of the article.

In disputed cases, the editor in chief may be involved in the process of reviewing a number of specialists.

If the reviewer's conclusion is positive, the article is sent to the publishing editor for preparation for publication. The editorial Board informs the responsible (contact) author and specifies the date of publication of the article.

When making a decision to finalize the article, the reviewer's comments and comments are transmitted to the responsible (contact) author. The author is given 2 weeks to correct the comments. If the author has not notified the editorial Board of the planned actions within this period, the article is removed from the publication queue.

When making a decision to refuse to publish an article, the responsible (contact) author is sent a reasoned notification.

If the author does not agree with the conclusion of the reviewer and/or editor or individual comments, he can challenge the decision. To do this, the author must clearly state his position on the issue under consideration.

The responsible (contact) author of the accepted article is sent the final version of the layout, which he must check, and make sure that all co-authors have seen and approved it. The response is expected from the authors within 2 days. If there is no reaction from the authors, the layout of the article is considered approved.
